Edgeware community implements Rosetta API for Substrate

Edgeware Community Developer Depth has released an updated and functional Rosetta API implementation for the Substrate-based chain.  Rosetta API is a development tool built by Coinbase that allows blockchains to be more readily compatible with a variety of third-party software, including exchanges (like Coinbase,) wallets, OTC desks, and applications.

The open-source project builds on the prior work of Dock Network, and was funded by the Edgeware on-chain treasury.

The release of this implementation is important in the Substrate ecosystem for two reasons:

  1. Substrate chains share a common framework, Parity Substrate, and this implementation means that with minimal changes, other chains can easily fork and use the Edgeware implementation.
  2. Rosetta, being the integration kit by Coinbase, helps these chains integrate with Coinbase's existing platforms.

"For anyone that wants to get into substrate development, this is a good stepping-stone project, it's a great learning experience for understanding substrate blockchains and the ecosystem." — Depth, the developer behind the implementation.

Edgeware and Depth welcome further improvement and use of the tool, which is their latest contribution to public goods.

The release is available on the Edgeware Network repository for use.
