Edgeware partners with Covalent to index the chain and enable Covalent API access for Edgeware devs.

March 25, 2021

Covalent has announced they will partner with the Edgeware smart contract platform to index the chain, creating easier accessibility to historical and on-chain data for EDG users and developers, in addition to the set of other blockchains Covalent indexes. The partnership will also allow Covalent’s technology to index the Polkadot network once Edgeware is bonded to the relaychain later this year.

“This exciting partnership with Covalent’s provides better access to on-chain data for developers and platforms across Defi, tooling and governance, meanwhile Edgeware opens a portal into the Polkadot ecosystem for Covalent’s indexing technology.” - Thom Ivy, Edgeware Council

The partnership is made possible through Edgeware’s Tokyo Upgrade, which brings EVM compatibility to the Substrate-based chain. This EVM compatibility allows teams and protocols to launch or extend to Edgeware and the Polkadot network with virtually zero changes to their infrastructure in order to deploy on EDG.

“Being community-owned, Edgeware places significant priority on transparency and trust. This partnership enhances such on Edgeware. Each individual, developer and analyst alike will soon be able to query every data point on Edgeware using the Covalent API.” -- Ganesh Swami, Covalent CEO

Covalent’s robust API solution is seamless for EDG users, with just one parameter, the chainID,  changing in calls, making it even easier for other teams and protocols to leverage their existing dependencies on Covalent’s technology by adapting their platforms to expand to EDG. The data will include, but is not limited to:

  • Token balances per address
  • Historical transactions per address
  • Historical prices by address and ticker symbol.
  • Decoded log events

Edgeware’s community is thrilled to greet Covalent and their work, which will create a more open-data ecosystem, fueling the values of accessibility for projects to come.

About Edgeware

About Covalent

Covalent leverages big-data technologies to create meaning from hundreds of billions of data points, delivering actionable insights to investors and allowing developers to allocate resources to higher-utility goals within their organization. Instead of pain-stakingly sourcing data from a small handful of chains, Covalent aggregates information from across dozens of sources including nodes, chains and data feeds. The Covalent API then sources end users with individualized data by wallet, including current and historical investment performance across all types of digital assets. Most importantly, Covalent returns this data in a rapid and consistent manner, incorporating all relevant data within one API interface.
